Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services

Karen Farley Halverson, Ed.D., is Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services.  She has worked as a teacher, a science specialist, an early childhood administrator, a principal, an elementary director, and as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in other districts in Texas, Alaska and Wisconsin.  She came to Nacogdoches ISD in August, 2008.  She holds a bachelor's in elementary education from the University of Idaho in Moscow, a master's in curriculum and instruction from The University of Texas at Austin, and her doctorate in educational leadership from The University of Texas at Austin.  Dr. Halverson has presented at numerous local, state, and national conferences.  She worked as a senior technical/training associate at Southwest Educational Development Lab in Austin and was named Wisconsin Administrator of the Year in 2004.
